Hi,

What would cause files that were uploaded in the "local view" to the "remote view" but not show up in live view? The files I am trying to upload do not show up in live mode. I have been using Dreamweaver for about 4 years now, and in the past, when I made changes to pages etc., all I had to do was save my changes in local view click on the "put" arrow and they would then show up in the remote view. The changes could then be viewed in "live view." Now, when I put the files to the remote view, it not only puts a copy of the changes to the remote view, but the old copy remains there too. It doesn't overwrite the files. So then, I have two copies of index.htm in the remote view. If I try to delete the old one, and keep the new remaining index.htm, I have no home page when I check it in "live view."  Could this be a server issue and something that is out of my control? I read something about "Server Side Includes" but I don't understand what that is exactly, and how I am supposed to control it or fix it.

Any help with this is deeply appreciated.

the times that has happened to me, it's been one of three things

1. same file names/different cases
2. i forgot to put "public_html" when I defined the remote site
3. I had an "index.htm" and an "index.html"

sorry if this doesnt do the trick and is overly simplistic - but sometimes the least complicated problems hang us up
