Mitch,

First of all, I am a new user with a new site provided by Lunarpages. From what I have seen of the site and forums, I am looking forward to getting the online store up and running.

I recently installed the OsCommerce 2.2 Release Candidate 1 files and I am having problems installing the cart. I uploaded the files the way the pdf file in the download suggests. When I type my store name, it requires me to provide the Database Server, Username, Password, and Database Name. I have tried everything I can think of based on the information sent to me in the email I received when I setup my account and nothing worked. Can you please assist me or point me in a direction that I might solve this problem?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

You will need to login to your cPanel, then go into the MySQL database section.  From there, you can create a database, then create a user and password for that database, and the last step would be to assign that use to the database.  Once you finish that, you can input that information in for your user name, password and database name that OsCommerce is asking you for.

Mitch,

Thank you for your reply. I created the database in MySQL. I assigned a user to that database. When I enter the information, I get this error:
Quote
There was a problem connecting to the database server. The following error had occured:

Access denied for user 'myusername'@'priam.lunarmania.com' (using password: YES)

Please verify the connection parameters and try again.

The information I enter is this:

For the Database Server: priam
For the Username: <username I created>
For the Password: <password I created for this user>
For the Database Name: <database I created> The Username and Password were assigned to this database.

Thanks again for your assistance.

In front of your user name and database name, try putting your cPanel user name in like this:

cpanelusername_databasename
cpanelusername_databaseuser

Put it in like that when filling in the info for osCommerce and see if that works out better for you.

Mitch,

I have tried that with and without the cpanelusername and I am still getting the same error.

Update:

I changed the server information from priam to localhost and it installed. Now I need to correct the folder locations.  Grinning

Thanks again for your help.

James

Hope you have a Merry Christmas!!
