 Welcome

Hello Lunarpages community, this is my first thread  Roll Hellyeah!

Now I require  Help with the Shared SSL Server.

LunarPages offers all customers the ability to use the Shared SSL Server, which of course is excellent. However, Mitch recently stated:
Quote
Please Note the following:

1. Shared SSL will not function with ASP, JSP or PHP pages. It will function only with html, and cgi/perl based documents/scripts/carts. This is due to security restrictions on the servers.

2. Shared SSL is not available with Lunarpages' Windows hosting plan.

Hope that helps!

Now, it seems to me that not allow PHP pages is rediculous, but that is not my question.

I recently discovered this website via a nice Google like website... Possible Google.
http://www.commerce-cgi.com/

I was wondering if this would work fine on the server.

Regards,
Grant

p.s. If you haven't guessed already I am an emoticon demon  Grr..!!

Yes, as mentioned before this is for a security reason.  Our number one job is to make sure we do all that we can to keep our customers secure and safe.  I checked out the script in question, but could not really find an in-depth requirements list.  Might contact the developer and see if they can get you one, then we would be happy to check over the requirements for you.  Thanks!

Sounds like you are good to go.  Another reason why you might not want to use the shared SSL certificate though for a shopping cart is it gives away your account user name.  For that reason, it should probably never be used with a real live web site.  Could be ok for testing, but if you are serious about setting up and starting up an e-commerce business, might be better off getting a dedicated SSL certificate.

It was only in the interest of testing.

Currently I have no interest in setting up my own online profit business.

I just felt, as I was making a non-profit website for information, I would test out a few things Smile

I was going to see how well I can intergrate it into my site to act as membership purchasing - Gotta practise sometime Smile. I was just messing around with this, and then I thought maybe if I have things like books, I can sell them too Smile Gotta love books.

Is the restriction because lunarpages does not allow shared SSL? The reason I am asking, I was gone move a client over; test e-commerce (Zencart, php shoppint cart) is currently set-up on a Unix box (another ISP) and running shared SSL without problem.   I agree that seeing url like https://annronstores.secure.theotherhost.net/index.php?main_page... is not very nice , but for those trying to save money, I believe this would be acceptable.
