Ok, I've been trying for about 4 nights straight. I cannot get this installed.

I've tried Virtuemart's automatic install, manual install, partial, full including Joomla!... everything. Can't do it.

Does anyone have a definitive guide for installing here, on lunarpages?

thx

Hi Andrew,

Are you getting a specific error? Do you get them after you install such as 500 Internal Server Errors or something during the install process?

Hi Michael-

Believe it or not, the biggest problem seems to be that I simply cannot get the files transferred. I have no issue setting up Joomla! from the control panel.

But I've also tried an installation into an empty directory, and also the automatic installation from Virtuemart.

One error I did receive was something to do with Joomla! needing to be -downgraded- (not the exact words) in order to run Virtuemart, but that was early on and I didn't see the message again.

I wish there weren't as many variations of installation... really, I'd love to see Virtuemart added to the control panel Wink

Any help appreciated!

thanks,
Andrew

Found a few search results from Joomla's forums that might help some here.  Was going to check out Virtuemart's web site - but seems to be down right now.  Hope that helps some!

Thanks Mitch, I'll take a look at those.

The basic functionality I need (for now) is really just a catalog without cost information; I'll look at Lunar's current available installs and post a new question.

Cheers,
Andrew

Nope... nothing working so far.

I'm going to contact the Virtuemart folks to see if they can shed some light on this.

Man, I really look forward to the day when the web just -works-.....

thanks,
Andrew

For 4 months of time trying to resolve this, you could have hired somebody from one of the freelancer websites to do it dirt cheap.  I've used people from those sites on multiple occasions to do the grunt work of projects and as long as they have good ratings you should have no worries.

Hey Valdeam-

Well, sure. But I'm just experimenting/evaluating at this point so the proposition of paying someone doesn't make sense at this point. I need to learn how to do it.

Frankly, if it's so tough to install, I'm wondering if it's worth it.

thanks,
A.
