Lately, when publishing with FP2000, files deleted from my local web are not deleting from the server.  I first noticed this when I deleted a file on my local web and when I published, FP did not warn me the file existed on the server but not on my local machine.  When I open the web directly on the server I see many files that are no longer on my local machine.  How can I get FP to recognize server files no longer on my local machine and delete them, and how could it have gotten out of synch in the first place?  Thanks.

I don't remember if FrontPage 2000 had the "Recalculate" feature, but if did, you might try it. In FrontPage 2003 the Recalculate feature is under the Tools menu.

* Open the web on the server and recalculate, then close it.

* Open the web on your computer and recalculate.

* Try publishing again.

FrontPage has been discontinued.
If you plan to stay with FrontPage, consider upgrading to FrontPage 2003 now.

Search the Microsoft KB for error messages:

Also search the knowledgebase for file on server not deleted. There are several articles that may apply to you.

Search:

http://support.microsoft.com/search/default.aspx?mode=a&query=files+on+server+not+deleted&spid=919&catalog=LCID%3D1033&1033comm=1&res=20

This behavior can occur if you select Publish all pages, overwriting any already on the destination in the Publish Web dialog box. This action succeeds in updating changes made to existing pages, but FrontPage does not automatically delete pages from the server that you deleted from your local web.

RESOLUTION

In the Publish Web dialog box, select the Publish changed pages only option.
