Good morning,
I've been authoring my own pages with FP 2000 for about five years (yeah, I know, I need to switch to DreamWeaver... it's been too time-consuming so I'm stuck w/ FP for now...) I'm an XP user.
I'm not a *complete* troglodyte about publishing and authoring, and related. Just mostly.
But I switched to DSL after being a dial-up user for ages, last month, and since then haven't been able to publish updates to my page. And I haven't had much time to throw at the problem.
LP Tech support seems unable to help me. I've submitted support tickets and not gotten it resolved. The last response was that LP is limited in experience with 3rd party software, but I'm scratching my head at that.
Here's what happens. I launch FP, go to file, select to publish, and after I click 'publish' in the little dialog box, I get the following error message:
'Could not find a web server at 'www.mandrakeapothecary.com' on port 80. Please check to make sure that the web server name is valid and your proxy settings are set correctly. If you are sure that everything is correct, the web server may be temporarily out of service.'
To date, I've done the following at LP Tech Support's behest:
uninstalled and then reinstalled the FP extensions from cPanel, twice
exited and restarted FP
checked my internet connection...
I've also disabled Norton Internet, thinking maybe it was telling FP to get stuffed and was denying access to the internet. No dice. And I've temporarily disabled Windows Firewall and tried to publish. Again, no dice.
Anyway, the server's there. It can be published to. Tech Support did this, published to it. My page is up, in all its un-updated glory. Gah.
This only started after the DSL switch-over last month. I think I need some remedial help on proxy servers and where to get at those. And port 80.
I did an hour of searching here for similar problems, but didn't find much, so I'm posting.
Anyone...? Anyone...? Bueller...?
