I'm trying to import my website to another computer (via ftp). Each time it stops and I get an error message that the URL .htaccess is invalid. I'm assuming that with all of the files listed in the remote web site side of the publishing page, that I can remove individual files to be published (the ones with the blue arrows). I can't seem to find out how, though. This will also help in stopping large files like smf forum from publishing to my computer. Can anyone lead me in the right direction.

I removed from my site all aspects of fp that require the extensions. I 'm trying to import using ftp. It's listing all of the files on the server, including the forum, .htaccess, etc - everything. I had planned on just importing everything, then deleting the files I don't need on my home computer, then just dealing with the pop up warning that lets me know that the file exists on the remote site but not local, do I want to delete it from the remote site, etc - no to all - then continue from there. The problem is it won't import the .htaccess file and I can't figure out how to remove certain files from being imported. The only thing I can do from the remote site side in fp is to delete the file but I don't know if that will delete the file from the server (don't want to take any chances without checking first).

I had to put this off for a while but now after trying to open the site live I'm getting an error message. After entering the site name it says the folder isn't accessible and that the folder may be located in an unavailable location, password protected or the filename contains a / or \.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I appreciate your looking into it, but that's the last thing I want to do! I went through and changed the entire site so I didn't need to use the Frontpage extensions. I had nothing but problems with them and, considering I'm still very new at this, I didn't need the added aggravation. But, are you saying that I would need them in order to import the site to a new computer? Even if I want use ftp to publish it?

When I try to use the import option in the file menu it tells me unable to import site from....  verify location and try again. After giving up on that I've tried to open the site live. But after clicking open site and trying to enter the site location at the bottom (fp2003) it says the folder isn't accessible. I've never opened the site live before so I'm probably doing something wrong, I just don't know what.
