I had problems accessing my dedicated server this morning.  A chat with support revealed there was a DOS attack.  This is the second time I was told this within 1 week.  I have yet to see any detailed explanation on the site as to what the problem is exactly and the steps lunarpages is taking to prevent this from reoccurring.

PLEASE, i need someone at lunarpages to give every customer the entire story and also provide some reassurances that we can, in fact, run our businesses on this platform.  I cannot stress how important this is. Although I have been a happy customer for almost a year this is coming at such a critical point that I will have no choice but to choose another provider if this can't get resolved.

Please provide some relevant network status messages and notifications as soon as you have them.

Thanks very much!

Hello, I can understand this type of situation must be frustrating but I am sure when they can support will update us about the situation - as with the one that previously happened in the last few days.  Hope that helps and if there is anything else we can do for you please feel free to let us know.  Thanks.

That is interesting- as I understand it, a DOS attack on a dedictaed server would have to be specifically aimed at you (or if you are reselling, a website on your server). Far different than a DOS attack on a shared server.

Hi Dkar,

I'll try to shed some lite on this situation so that you could see that we are attempting  everything to eliminate the attack and its consequences.

One of our shared servers has been experiencing a huge DDOS attack which was causing network slowdowns affecting all hosts in the same data center this way. We have changed the attacked server IP, have setting filtering and and some other mechanisms which we cannot go into details due to security.

All these measures have gaven very good results. There may be rare periods of network slowness though and we are working with the data center and backbone providers to completely overcome the negative effect of the DDOS.

I hope this helps.

That'd be the shared server I'm on, according to Support. It's service has been intermittent all day. It is especially frustrating when you're in the middle of modifying code. I was told it was a DDoS though, rather than a DoS. Hopefully it can be sorted soon. I've just got stat tracking online for our game servers Happy Happy Joy Joy

Hi brymstone,

We have been working hard to mitigate the attack on your server. The server was fine all the evening so this situation appears to be resolved.
