I am trying to setup a new service, however it seems like the port is not responding. My question is, by default, does lunarpages block any ports on the dedicated servers? If so, how do I go about opening up a port on the firewall?

Well.. I have solved the problem myself. It was just something wrong with the daemon I was trying to run. The ports are not blocked. (At least in my case)

So if you are wondering about this, check your server files first.

Just to add as this maybe useful for somebody. If you purchased a managed addon and a linux server, you will get APF installed as firewall. Only ports for common services (such as 21,22,53,80,110,143)are opened in it. So if a program you setup uses a non-common port and you may need to open the port in APF by editing /etc/apf/conf.apf for IG_TCP_CPORTS or IG_UDP_CPORTS depending on what protocol your program uses for communication. Then restart APF to apply the changes: "service apf restart". Be very careful editing firewall rules as you may be locked out of your server, if you made a mistake.

Well thats odd.. APF was supposed to be setup for my server. But I still got my service running fine without modifying any ports...

hm.. maybe your APF confir allows connections to ports above 25000 as it is usually not needed to protect them.
