I am receiving errors such as above and it is fillling my error log. Anyone have any idea what I should be looking for in order to remedy this?
I run apache 2.2.6 with php 5.2.4 compiled via easyapache (To lazy to do it manually and makes sure it works with cpanel).

There are a few other errors but this one is persistantly occurring. I restarted my httpd and wiped the error log an hour ago and this error is one of the errors I constantly see occuring. I was able to get rid of some of the others as well Smile

As they actually told me what is wrong.

Hello,

This error appears a lot to be described in the Apache 2.0 FAQ at http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/faq/error.html Did you try suggestions from it?

Ahh, I didn't see that.

I tried the

Code:

EnableSendfile Off

I manually added it to my httpd.conf.

But wouldn't this get lost in a cpanel or http upgrade?
Is there somewhere I can put it where it doesn't get lost?

If you are using the latest release of cPanel, it may rebuild httpd.conf files on upgrades. With the newest releases of CPanel, I would recommend to put the EnableSendfile setting into /usr/local/apache/conf/includes/pre_virtualhost_global.conf file which won't be overwritten and is supposed for Apache customizations.

Oh cool. I didn't know that.

Checked my error logs and it hasn't occurred since I have done this. I do have other errors but I will fix those at a later time Smile

I just checked again today while fixing a loop problem with mod rewrite so I had enabled debuging.
It appared again

Sorry to hear about the error comming back. Did you try to play with EnableMMAP mentioned at the end of the FAQ topic?

Yea I did.

They where still coming in though.
After some time I think I found the issue.
It looks like a loop being caused by mod_rewrite to rewrite 403.shtml to error.php is getting looped by those who are forbidden to access the site totatly.

I am trying to see if there is anything I can do but at the moment it doesn't look like there is.

Well I found something out. The error is coming from now where some times Confused

I downloaded /usr/local/apache/logs/access_log and the folder
/usr/local/apache/domlogs

Btw, as a tid bit. This was a 117 access log files I was scanning through. Thankfully BBEdit has a multi-file search so this took seconds Razz

I opened all files and searched all files for one of the ip addresses causing this error. Nothing was found.
I did another search for another IP address and found one instance of it.

After a little more work I can say I can match up most IP addresses to accessing a music file. Different random ones that we have but it appears to be the mp3 files we have on the server that is causing the issue.

Do you have any suggestions to why mp3 files would be causing this?

The only idea I can think of about the relationship with mp3 files is that they are bigger than common scripts or html pages. This may require apache to allocate some amount of memory (i.e. socked buffers) to send them and Apache fails to do so for a some reason.

Btw, did you try to downgrade Apache to 2.0 or 1.3 to see if there still be those errors appearing in the logs?

We need Apache 2.2 for some reason the CEO has planned. I haven't got this information yet but they needed it.

Do you know if apache can have its memory boosted? quickly glanced at the conf but unlike php it doesn't look like I can boost memory limits.

Thanks for the link I will keep it handy.

As of now I talked with the other admin and ceo of the company and we are just going to drop these mp3 files off these subdomains that we host and ask the people to remotely host the files. Since most of them are copyright protected we don't want any issues. As long as they are not being hosted by us then there isn't an issue with the music.
