Ok, normally ftp is used to backup the current content to the external backup server.

But can we use "rsync" as well?

If not: What, if we use another (=NON-Lunarpages) backup server (=our own)?
Can we then use rsync instead of ftp?

Or are there any restrictions from Lunarpages resp. cpanel to use rsync?

Hello Pstein,

There is no restrictions from Lunarpages on what to use for backups. It is up to you to find and use the most suitable solution for your data. Unfortunately, it is not possible to use rsync to backup data to your backup account because it is available by FTP only. However, you would consider using lftp utility that has mirror option and allows to get to equal directory structures on remote FTP account and local server which can be used for backup purposes.

I hope this helps.
