Hello,

We used easy apache in the past to build php and apache. It came to my notice today that our spell checker on our SMF forums was missing. Seems php was not built with pspell.

I ran easy apache a couple of times while messing with cpanel versions and all a month ago and I never remembered seeing a pspell option.

What would be the best way to go on this?
I believe easy apache has and advanced option, but would it allow me to build php with pspell?

I never actually built pspell, only php, mysql and apache. Any one know about how long this usually takes to do?
Besides the English dictionary, another other libraries required?

Hello JeremyD,

The best way to build pspell module for PHP would be easyapache. You will need to select pspell module under advanced configuration and easyapache will handle the rest for you. Please ensure that you select Load previous configuration option to ensure that your original settings for Apache and PHP remains. Apache and PHP rebuild usually takes up to 30 mins. Apache will be up the most part of that time.

Please reply back, if you have any further questions.

Would it neeed to install pspell and its libraries? Or are they possibly installed?

I am thinking it would because I tried to run the command "pspell" and it couldn't find it

Quote
[root@server ~]# pspell
-bash: pspell: command not found
[root@server ~]# aspell
Usage: aspell [options] <command>
<command> is one of:
-?|usage         display a brief usage message
help             display a detailed help message
  -c|check <file>  to check a file
  -a|pipe          "ispell -a" compatibility mode
[dump] config    dumps the current configuration to stdout
config <key>     prints the current value of an option
[dump] dicts | filters | modes
lists available dictionaries / filters / filter modes
[options] is any of the following:
--encoding=<str>            encoding to expect data to be in
  --mode=<str>                filter mode
  -l,--lang=<str>             language code
-d,--master=<str>           base name of the main dictionary to use
  --sug-mode=<str>            suggestion mode

It will setup all required pre-requests to compile pspell module for PHP. I believe it will use aspell which provides pspell library emulation for access to its dictionaries.
