Wow, I appreciate the troubleshooting Randy, TranzNDance, I TRIED 'BATCH" 1ST. I have many pics sitting in folders processed (downsized to fit requirements) batch upload is the only way that makes sense provided I can do it.  After many frustrating efforts I tried other means. IT HAS TO BE ME! USER ERROR! Something is not set up rt . I failed to create something that needed creating.  Something or other happened...This is why i enabled the de-bugging feature thinking that I might get info that someone else can interpret.
It is 3hrs earlier here in Florida than you guys on the west coast. I am going to get some coffee and dig into what Randy andTranzNDance has suggested that I do. If anyone thinks they can help by viewing my "debug" message I will post it or send it. I am not doing that now because I do not know if this is appropriate. Thanks guys... artdog...

I have been following the troubleshooting directions in the coppermine manual as TranzNDance suggests. I reset configuration settings as stated however I was NOT able to create a new user (so that I can have a  test user )  I get this message:  While executing query "INSERT INTO cpg_users(user_regdate, user_active) VALUES (NOW(), 'YES')" on 0

mySQL error: Duplicate entry '' for key 2

Now as I attempt create a new user I am getting something else that appears to be locked Huh
I guess I am over and above my element here. I am rather lost and struggling. I refuse to give up!   I imagine that I have several issues most simple being that I don't understand the proper way to input address locations. I bet I have read and re-read these manual directions a hundred times and changed things at least 20 times which takes me to now, exasperated! I appologize for my ineptitude.

Now I am up against a wall. I can not continue w/o help. I see that because I was unable to create a new TEST user for my gallery, my debug info was there for all to see against coppermines request to NOT do this. With respect for those that created coppermine who made this strong request I had no other choice but to return my settings to factory settings, which of course disabled the debug feature. So around and around I go and where I will stop, nobody knows?

Downloading it now.  Unfortunately I can't help you unless I have it in front of me.

At first glance it appears you may have some database issues but I don't know how to clear it in coppermine or if there is even a choice to.  I'll install it and see what I can find out for ya.

Ok, I set up a database, uploaded Coppermine, and went through the install script.  It was short and sweet, all about connecting to the database that I created and setting up administrator.

After I finished with that, I added an album.  After that, I used the upload image, using the URL/URI form and added an image from elsewhere on my site.

When you use the file upload, did you notice that there are two areas.  The first is for local files.  The lower portion is for the URL's.

YEP... You did it DSB.
I am obviously doing something terribly wrong. When I see it done so quickly by someone that does not even use coppermine, I Crying or Very sad..... I could delete everything and start over, but I suspect that my lack of knowledge will take me to the same dead end, unless I figure out where I am going wrong.  Thanks DSB and everyone else that is trying to help me. I promised the kids at school that I would get them a gallery, and I want this one, I gotta do it! ...artdog

What does it show when you click on "Albums" and then select "My Gallery" in the drop down?

i do get a double message when I attempt to upload. 1st message says that upload is successful second message is an error message. I had a lot of debug info to look at when I enabled that feature I just could not decypher it. My gut feeling is that I have my address(s) messed up and dont know exactly how it should read.

You'll get it, it just takes time.

Ok so you have two albums.  Now up at the top, click on upload file.

You should now see the two sections.  One for local files and the other for remote.  In the first box in the bottom section (box with no browse button), paste this:  http://www.artdog.org/image003.gif

Then click continue at the bottom.

It should say the file was uploaded and give you a choice of albums to add the image to.  Pick one and click continue.

Edit: Let me know when you've tried this step by step and then I'll move on to my next suggestion.

Error
No file was uploaded !

If you have really selected a file to upload, check that the server allows file uploads..(.this was a paste frm coppermine)

this is message i get. The upload pg you are wanting me to use I did not get back too. I think because I reset configuration back to factory settings that I lost some stuff that i need. I will go back and go through it again trying to configure things the best that I can. I am betting that where I get hung is in trying to figure out the addresses. I do not totally comprehend these directions by coppermine manual people and people that want to help. I am probably missing something that is obvious to others. I am dumbfounded that I can't get that upload pg that I have seen many times.

Don't get ahead of yourself.  I didn't change one config setting after setting up mine.  Defaults are ok.

Can you log into cPanel and click on MySQL Databases and tell me if you see the database you created for Coppermine.  Don't post details, just if you see the database.
