Ok do you see some text next to the database that shows connection strings.  Again, don't post the text.  Just let me know if you see it.

Ok, I'll give you the step by step then.

1) Create the database by entering a name in the create database box and clicking create database.

2) Create user by entering username and password in the appropriate boxes and clicking create user.

3) Assign the user to the database at the very bottom by selecting the username and then the database and clicking the add user to database button.  *If you only have one database and one user they should be the only ones listed.

You should then see:

Current Databases:
username_database

Users in database
username (Privileges: ALL PRIVILEGES)

Connection Strings

Perl   $dbh = DBI->connect("DBI:mysql:database:localhost","username","<PASSWORD HERE>");

PHP   $dbh=mysql_connect ("localhost", "username", "<PASSWORD HERE>") or die ('I cannot connect to the database because: ' . mysql_error());
mysql_select_db ("database");

Let me know when you see this.

Ok, now you need to ftp to your website and empty the gallery folder.

Once you do that, you will then download Coppermine again here:  http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/coppermine/cpg1.4.9.zip?use_mirror=easynews

Then you will extract the data to a folder and upload the fresh files back up to the gallery folder.

Let me know when you are finished doing this.

If you are using the cPanel File Manager, then yes delete the gallery folder.  Click the link named gallery and then it will verify if this is correct in the upper right corner.  After you delete it, it will be placed in the trash can.  This is your last chance to restore it if you make a boo boo.  If you are sure you chose the right folder (gallery) then you click the trash can to make the delete permanent.

After you are done, create a new folder named gallery.

you have been with me a very long time. I feel very guilty to take so much of your energy. After I download the coppermine gallery again ,I offer you a chance to escape my efforts. I am assuming that I am on rt track to delete current coppermine. You might give me any tips you might have to get started on rt track. I doubt that I will do anything more tonight besides download coppermine after deleting. I see you have another posting which I will read at this time but Im getting tired. I am about done for now. Thanks very much Smile

It's no problem really.

All you have left to do is to download Coppermine using the link above.  After you do that you will need to extract the files to a folder on your computer.  You will then want to use a ftp program to upload the files to your new gallery folder.

Once you have uploaded all the files you then go to:  http://www.artdog.org/gallery

You will then be redirected to a page that helps you set the admin account and tell Coppermine where to look for the database and what username and password to connect to it with.

This information is very important.  The database name, username, and password need to be the the full qualifying names and accurate.

After you finish, you should be ready to create your albums and add photos.

For DSB and everyone else that followed the saga of artdog's difficulties I need to step away for a while. Besides coppermine issues I have cast away every aol component, Trashed it, I did! replaced my firewall and virus scan ,downloaded the coffee cup programs ,acquired "stuffitt" and just today, replaced my aging router with a new one. (I have a few user caused configuration issues)
I need to slow down and deal with all of these issues and with my knowledge level what it is it will take a little while. My school kids will get their photo/gallery. I have promissed it to them and I will deliver!
 Asking for more help now would be inappropriate. I need to get things rt first,even if I need some professional help( this is what I am prepared to do). Hopefully you will not see me back in this forum venue until I have a functioning Coppermine gallery in a week or 2. Till then, a grateful thanks to DSB and everyone else....artdog
