Yeah ..Great ! Thanks ..thats the kind off stuff im after ...things you guys keep in your favourites folder

I use Goggle too but for somnethings it is best using non copyrighted material.

Wheni use other material i usuallly transform it completly in different ways to "make it mine"

yes but sometimes people keep a special tag on their pictures that will always tell people who made it.
And you can track it on the web. you never know.
Its always best to use stock pics!

Aha...I didnt know that.It is traceable even if you just use a detail?

I ususally do collagues out of images.Anyway even if they are traceable i dont think copyright applies if you move the original completely out of its context..Not sure though...

I'm not that sure either. But i have the feeling that copyright will still apply to it, unless the picture you used is from a stock photography website.

generally, depending upon the restrictions placed by the copyright holder, you aren't allowed to manipulate the photo without permission from the original owner.

To clarify the what constitutes copyright infringment debate:  If a copyrighted image is used as a derivative in any new artwork, it constitutes copyright infringement.  It doesn't matter how distorted, reworked, or transformed an image is.  Technically, if you took one pixel from someone else's artwork and put it in yours, that would be considered a violation.  Of course, they'd never catch you for that, but that doesn't make it legal.

If you are using these images for commercial purposes, you'll most likely have to pony up a bit of dough.  If this is the case, look for Royalty Free images.  You only have to pay once for a royalty free photo and then you can use it however and whenever you want.  If you go with a rights protected or a rights managed photo, then you have to be very specific about what you are using the image for and the prices are usually insane.

Of course, if you're just looking for images for your personal webpage or whatever, ignore that last paragraph.  There are tons of free stock photos for personal use.
