My images are suddenly not showing up on my pages.  I have some pages on which I
display maps.  They worked fine before and then stop working. I rebuild the pages by
deleting the images and reinserting them.

When I rebuild the pages, the coffeecup editor I am using asked me if I want to put the
images in my root directory and I replied yes.  This is addition to putting them in my image
directory. They were working fine for about a week and then stopped.  Of course I did
nothing like enabling hot linking or changing my htaccess file. In fact I have never touch
these features.

I am afraid something on the server has changed but Lunarpages of course will assume
it is something I have done.  Anyway, here is my http://www.jamaica-insider.com
and the pages I am having problem with are

http://www.jamaica-insider.com/jamaica_map.shtml
http://www.jamaica-insider.com/ocho_rios_map.shtml
http://www.jamaica-insider.com/montego_bay_map.shtml
http://www.jamaica-insider.com/negril_map.shtml
http://www.jamaica-insider.com/port_antonio_map.shtml

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

The problem is that the files in the images directory other than header_logo.jpg do not seem to be image files. Although they show jpg extension, that is not what they seem to be.

Wektech,

Thanks for your quick reply, but what do you mean they are not image files? What exactly constitute a image file.

I used photoshop element to create these images/maps, they were saved as jpeg so what disqualify them from being image.  I am new to this and you seem to be a pro in this area so
please excuse my ignorant and educate me if you can.  I will certainly appreciate it.

Thanks

I am by no means an expert at photoshop, in fact I have never used it. I downloaded the jpegs and attempted to open them with windows image viewer and digital image pro. Neither would recognize the files created on New Years day, although they had no problem with the header_logo.jpg file. I suspect this has to do with some jpeg headers added by photoshop, but I am out of my league here. I suspect that photoshop as a save for web option, when saving the files, perhaps you should try opening the files with photoshop and use that option to save the final project for publishing.

Thanks again,

I did indeed used the "save for the web" option in photoshop and it saved the file as jpeg by default.  I suspect I could have also saved it as .gif.

It still begs the question, why did it worked for a week and then suddenly stopped?  - unless,
of course, something on the server have changed.

Thanks

Hello, are you sure you haven't enabled any hotlinking protection?  Might double check in your control panel to find out.

The image in the root folder works:
http://www.jamaica-insider.com/jamaica_map.jpg

However, the image path that the home page is using is:
http://www.jamaica-insider.com/images/jamaica_map.jpg

You need to update the webpage with the correct image path.
