I already d/l phpbb and uploaded the files to my site before I read this topic but I have not installed it yet. My question is, I downloaded just the normal zip file and hush said we should get the gzip one, so does it really matter (isn't there on option in the configuration to enable gzip compression) or am I ok to install the one I have now? If I need to d/l the gzip file, do I just delete the one I have on my site now or do I need to do something else to get rid of it before uploading the new one?

We've set up our BB, but didn't do anything technical at all, just enabling it in CPanel.
We're only just getting around to configuring it withthe permissions etc we want, but will we need to do anything more technical that that done through the Cpanel?
That is, we use a Web designer to manage our site, and have setup our forum without involving them at all.
Are we missing anything then, such as patching that recent exploit for phpBB?

You do not need to download the g-zip file, you can download the zip file and extract it and upload all files to a folder on your account and continue setup

lol, I managed to update my phpBB. if i just read the readme, I would see how easy it was. a tutorial on how to repair when things go pair shape would be good. (we all make mistakes )

Get the milk straight from the cow - http://phpbb.com No offense to Hush & LP, but there is no need to ask about phpbb here.

Hi sky2k4, Pete waves Good to hear you got it set up easily enough. Have a wander around the Message Boards/Forums & Fantastico Scripts section if you need any more help with it:wink:

Anything you put in the public_html folder will be in the www folder ( and vice versa )

SymLink = Simply a shortcut to the real folder , the actual folder to put the stuff in is public_html , on the other hand , if it works , congratulations lol
