Re: My Post Above...

I finally fixed it (with lots of hints from LPers and Mods, you know who you are...!)   Wink

So if you've sauntered in here with similar trouble, you can find my debugging process over here http://www.lunarforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=77848#77848.

Very Happy

I have the exact same issue you did, but your link for the fix is dead.

It would be nice to add to the tutorial, how and why to change permissions.

Make sure config.php has the right details for connecting to your database. Perhaps you have changed the password recently.

The link to download the latest version can be found at DOWNLOADS.

That's a quote from the very first post in this thread.  I'm kind of surprised that in the several years since that was posted, nobody mentioned that the download link is incorrect!  You've got the link pointing to http://www.php.com/downloads.php but it should actually point to http://www.phpbb.com/downloads.php

In other words, you left off the "bb" in phpbb.com

Sorry, I am a complete newbie at this, so I rather ask in advance before screwing anything up.

You will need to download the 'g-zip' version to your computer.  Once this has completed upload the file to your

public_html folder on your server.

This zip file can then be extracted using the extract function within C-Panel.  Thus creating the folder phpBB2.  You must

now rename this folder to represent the address you would like your forum to be viewed at.
  Currently it will be accessable

from:
http://www.yourdomain.com/phpBB2
So, if I want it to be accessable at www.board.mydomain.dom, I'll have to rename the file to "board", right?

Plus: it didn't extract the file to public_html, but to the index, shall I move it to public_html?

Plus: Do I need to enable PHP5 for the forum to run?

it says to change the phpBB2 folder to read like this
http://www.yourdomain.com/phpBB2 I would put my site address in where it says your domain.com right?

I tried that and when I did
http://www.yourdomain.com/phpBB2/install/installphpBB2

It gives me a 404 Not found error

So my question is do I put the http://www. in or not?

I got my answer never mind..
