Here is how to use the spamboxes in spamassassin:

- from cpanel, go into webmail
-Login to horde using the ftp username and password
-In the top right go to the folders/messages drop down menu
-It should list all the email accounts for that domain, under each is a folder called spam, select this, this is where the spam is hiding.

(Thanks to those who contributed to this howto)

Couple of questions on this one.  I was hoping that Spam Assassain could catch all potential SPAM headed for my company domain and send it to me in a SPAM folder.  If I click on Enable S.A. this will begin the filtering process but how do I get it automatically delivered to my SPAM inbox.  I am using Outlook XP and currently we use pop to access our email.  What user, settings do I use for this account?

The only way to access the spam box is using IMAP. Its a simple as changing the setting in your email program to IMAP from POP3. In Outlook, you may have to resetup the account to allow you to change that option. My recommendation would be to setup a secondary IMAP version of the same account in Outlook, and use that account whenever you want to wade through the SPAM, and stick with the POP account for the rest of the email.

No... you use the same username you use for POP. If you havn't setup any new email accounts, login using the lunarpages assigned: username and password

user: yourusername
pass: yourpassword

You do NOT need the @domain.com etc

If you log in with username (the one LP assigns you) you should find a single mailbox in your main account called SPAM. All the spam will collect in there.

I have setup the Spam Assassin' filter and have turned on the Spam Assassin's inbox.

I configured my IMAP client to retrieve the emails from my mail account using the same username and password. However, what I have got is the normail emails that go to my normal POP mailbox, not the spam filtered emails that I can see throught the Horde webmail spam folder.

Can anyone advise how to configure the IMAP client to read the spam filtered emails?

In connecting through IMAP, you will get both your normal emails AND your spam emails.

If you take a close look at the folder struture, you will find one called "Spam". The spam folder is created by the spam box option. You inbox is the same as what you get through POP or horde/webmail.

You can also see the Spam folder through horde if you go to the folder views.

Hello,

I enabled both Spam Assassin and Spambox features the day I transferred my hosting service to Lunarpages.

I am very sure I would have some spam emails sent to my spambox; however, I have not received any so far (nice!). So I log into Horde and try to view those spam emails, but I can’t find any folder named “spam” in the folder list (I thought it would be created automatically).

For the experimental purpose, I manually created a top-level folder called “spam” and see if that did the trick. Now after reading the last post of this topic, which folder name is the right one? “spam” or “Spam”? or does that matter?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think the Spam folder isn't created until you receive some spam.

Do your incoming messages indicate anything about Spamassasin?
(In the headers)

If so, then all should work well for you!

Ed,

Thanks for the quick reply!

Yes, all the headers indicate Spam Assassin is working (X-Spam-Status, etc.), I am just wondering if the actual spam messages get discarded even though I enabled the Spambox option.

Normally I would have average of 10-15 spam emails a day, but now I got none. So if Spam Assassin is working, I should have some spam emails forwarded to the spambox. Well, unless the spammers are having a new year break  Very Happy .

So do you suggest I remove the "spam" folder I created a wait a little bit?

I'd just leave it setup the way it is. In no configuration does SPam Assasin auto delete emails, so they will get delivered somewhere.

Try logging in using your LP assigned username and password to webmail and see if there are any in that account.

I always log in with the LP assigned user name and password, but still nothing there.

I guess I will wait a bit longer and see how that works!

Thanks again for your help!
