Hi Jay,

Thanks for the reply. At least I saw that I'm not the only one who wants something nice and easy. I'll try to find the time and will to do it manually.
Happy New Year!

PS- the link above doesn't work from a MacOSX, Safari. Maybe the browser doesn't allow automatic downloads, it just says that it can't read the file. Just noticed: you need to press "option" + click to get to the right menu.

I installed my phpBB forum from CPanel, but have been doing the updates manually from the updates released from phpbb.com

If I go into Fantastico in Cpanel, it says I am still using 2.0.8a, but I do have the 2.0.11 installed. Also, when I updated the forum to 2.0.10, it still said 2.0.8a.

So my question is, My Forum is up to date, but will LP see it as not being uptodate sence Cpanel says it isn't?

Thanks,
Mike

FIRST BACKUP YOUR CURRENT PHPBB INSTALLATION & DATABASE

If you have installed phpbb via fantastico:

Quote
1. Log into your control panel.
2. Double click the fantastico icon.
3. Click on phpbb you should see an update option.

That will update phpbb for you.

Otherwise manually update your phpbb installation:
Quote
Download the Changed files:
http://kent.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/phpbb/phpBB-2.0.11-files.zip

Open the zip file, you will see files called 2.0.x_to_2.0.x.zip

If you are upgrading from phpbb 2.0.8 look for the file called:
2.0.8_to_2.0.11.zip

Extract these files into a folder on your local computer. Then upload
all files overwriting your current phpbb files. WARINING: You will need to reapply any hacks, modifications.

In the main phpBB-2.0.11-files.zip you will see a directory called
"install". Extract this directory from the zip file onto your local computer
and upload to your forums root directory.

Then run http://www.domain.com/install/update_to_211.php

Delete the install folder from your forums root directory.

This will update your database.

I think that will do it, and you should now have a updated version of phpbb. Smile

This is great - if you're using a standalone of the forum.  But what about those of us who are using phpNuke with phpBB integrated into it?

I can't for the life of me figure out how to upgrade the Forums so this hack can be safeguarded against.  Ideally, I'd like to upgrade to phpNuke 7.5 but I'm skeered!

Hello!
I have a slight problem, didn't think it was enough to bother support with an e-mail. Maybe someone here can help me out.

I installed my board using fantastico, I have 2 MySQL databases avaliable and when I go to upgrade my board it is showing the other database, that dosn't have my board installed, so says 'no current installation'. Is there a way to get it to pick up the other one instead or as well so I can upgrade my board in one click, and leave my brain in tack?

Thanks I appreciate any help

their should be an upgrade button their if you installed it using fantastico, are you sure you never installed it using the BB installer also available in CPanel?

Embarassed it appears I did. Sorry and thanks for pointing that out. I guess the upgrade button works just the same as if I were doing it in Fantastico, without overwritting any existing posts.

Cheers, Jess
