I've been messing with Joomla a bit, and am running into problems when I enable Search Engine Friendly URLs.

My Joomla install is to a virtual domain beta.mydomain.com, whereas my main webpage is at www.mydomain.com.

I know I need to do something with the .htaccess file, probably related to the install being in /public_html/beta/ instead of the usual root of /public_html.

Anybody happen to have a working .htaccess file for a non-default directory after you enabled Search Engine Friendly URLs?

I just did the same thing myself... setup joomla on a subdomain to set it up and test it, then copied it to the primary domain.  I think the only thing I had to change was the application directory in the joomla config files when I moved it to the primary domain.  I didn't make any changes to the .htaccess file.

Joomla works just fine, however all of the links stop working as soon as I enable the Search Engine Friendly URL's, which I want on. I haven't even done more than a quick look at how to change the DNS for the site, I'm sure I'll get it figured out when it comes to that. Right now I'm just looking at trying to get the SEF working, which is a matter of getting the right .htaccess voodoo right.

I don't use SEF myself, but in the root of the Joomla install, there's a file htaccess.txt which should give you some ideas to help you solve your problem.
