I am running a static website for my school's PTA. I want to install the latest version of Joomla 1.5.4. It was soooo easy on my other websites, using CPanel, Linux server. But I can't even upload and extract the Joomla install file in the Plesk File Manager!!

My question to LunarPages is does my windows account have the following: (free education account)
PHP     4.3.10
MySQL    3.23.x or above
Apache    1.3 or above

My next question is if not, can I switch to a Linux account?

I am also on an education account for my site and had the same issue...I wanted to be on cpanel not plesk. I found cpanel much easier to work with (at the time, installing joomla wasn't my issue). I requested to be migrated to a linux server....request through a support ticket. They will tell you to save your stuff and might have to reload (if you have anything up).

Here are two videos that do a fantastic job walking you through the upgrade process of Joomla to 1.5:

Part 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nk0K78E9i70
Part 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Na9-hj_-18M

Hope that helps!
