Normally it is installed under either public_html or it can be installed under a subfolder. It depends on whether you want it to be the main part of your site, if you are installing it on a subdomain, or if you want it as a part of your site people will browse to after some initial files come up. It will create a lot of files and subfolders when it is installed. They will all be under the folder you install to.
