Have you investigated the extension library at http://extensions.joomla.org/index.php?option=com_mtree&task=listcats&cat_id=1766&Itemid=35 ? (thats the content management extension link)

I had looked at the extensions library but apparently I missed this content links list...
I'll try it right away thanks for the help.
 
Edit: Well just tried it. Good to replace the "last articles" or "top rated articles" modules. But it actually only shows the titles, the intro text is shown only in a "tooltip", like a caption that appears when you hover over.
I would like something more like what you can see there: http://demo.ijoomla.com/  the box "more news"
I'll just have to try harder, thanks anyway

new edit: Just to let people who would find this post that the best thing I found so far is the flexcontent component. I do not understand very well yet how to configure the css to display it correctly, but you can really do plenty of stuff with it...
