In Joomla, can a registered user submit a link and have it automatically published?  I am setting up my first Joomla site, and tried testing the link submission feature, but when I submitted a link I received an e-mail saying that there was a link waiting for approval.  That seemed strange since as the only registered member of the site so far, I have su rights, so I assumed the submitted links would be immediately published.  At any rate, the point is this is for a small group and I would like my users to be able to submit links and have them appear on the site right away. Is that possible?

You can try upgrading the users from registered to publisher. This works for most (the keyword being most) components.

That didn't work.  It seems that only an administrator can actually publish a new link. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.  I can't even get a news article to appear without admin approval even though the user is registered as a publisher.  I am not finding Joomla to be very user friendly so far Sad

I've had the same problem since all of the security updates. I ended up giving some administrative rights I didn't want to give.

I suspect they simply did that because most sites wouldn't want new users submitting spam.

You may want to try one of the other directory extentions for managing links.  Some of them at least give you much more control that joomla's built in link component.
