I signed one year of Basic Plan on Lunarpages here at server dacat.

Then I migrated my website built with Joomla into this new server space.

Next, I want to test my new site and I loggin to the backend. I opened the JoomlaXplorer component and want to delete one file located at the root directory of my new site. That file was uploaded by CPanel in order to help my migration.

But I found that I can't delete that file with JoomlaXplorer.

Shit !

It seems that my account in apache and FTP are not in the same group. I had encountered the similar problem in former hosting provider. This is part of the reason why I want to migrate here.

Why there is still such a stupid setting?

How can I fix this ?

You need to make sure you have the proper permissions to the said folders in order for joomlaxplorer to be able to delete it.  Joomlaxplorer is known to not do well with file management.

Do you know Joomla well? If so, we can discuss this issue further.

Do you know why I chose Lunarpages hosting service and migrated my Joomla site from another hosting provider in China?

That is because, their server has a very, very stupid setting that I can't use FTP to manage those files uploaded by php.

Don't understand my problem? Ok, let me give you some details.

That is also a Linux server with CPanel. I built my website with Joomla CMS. You know, I need to install extra components to make my site powerful. So I installed some at the backend of Joomla. That is to say, new files was uploaded and installed by Joomla, which in fact is finished by some php file.

Then I want to delete one file in the new component. If you know something about Joomla, you know that I need to browse to the folder of that component on my site with FTP client software and delete that file. Very simple, isn't it?

But I can't do it ! I can see that file in my FTP software, to be exactly, Filezilla 3.0. But when I wanted to delete it, the Filezilla told me I have no permission.

Fuck !!!!!

How can I delete that file? Use CPanel? I know you will suggest me to use CPanel. But I really like Filezilla. I can't accept that I can't delete my files on my website with my FTP account !!!

Yes, Joomla also has a component named JoomlaXplorer for Admin to manage files at the backend of Joomla. I can use it to delete that file. But why I should give up the right of using Filezilla?

The worse is, if I upload one file with FTP, then I can't delete that file via JoomlaXplorer.

Shit !!!!

Don't you think that that is a very, very stupid setting?

Now, the same problem happens on Lunarpages' server, too !

I migrated my old site to the server dacat of Lunarpages. Then I uploaded one file with Filezilla, the FTP client software. Next I try to delete it with JoomlaXplorer at the backend of this migrated site.

Shit!!! I can't delete it with JoomlaXplorer. I can't use JoomlaXplorer to delete files uploaded via FTP.

What is wrong?

Why all the servers on the world was configed like that? why ?

Maybe this is why JoomlaXplorer was developed? But I think FTP client is more convenient.

Problem is when you transferred joomla from your previouse host your carried the same settings.  This is not a cpanel issue, it's an ownership issue and joomlaxplorer does not have proper authority to modify the files because it was set that way with your previous host.  Use either file manager in cpanel or a FTP client.  If you want to change the permissions and ownership of the file then you can do so through cpanel in file manager.  And the swearing doesn't help your case.

I downloaded the old site with my FTP client to my Windows XP desktop computer. Then I compressed all those files with winRAR and uploaded the package to the new site.

Do you mean that the Windows OS will keep the file permission set by the Linux server ?
