Hi all.

I just set-up a new client with the basic web hosting package and want to build their site using WordPress.  They currently have their site set-up at another hosting company and I was hoping I could build their new site on the LP servers before they redirected their nameservers here, that way they wouldn't have any interruption in service.

However, after installing WordPress on their account, I realized that I can't access the WP login admin page unless their domain name is rerouting to the LP account.

So now I don't know what to do.  I can't use their temporary LP server URL even.  Do I need to copy all their current website files, upload them to LP, reroute the domain names and then build?  Or is there some way to get around this so that I can build the site using WP before actually redirecting the domain name to the LP server.

Any help someone could provide would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, I would e-mail support and ask them if you can get one of our sud-domains put on your web site.  Something like testingsite.lunarpagesrocks.com.  That would allow you to setup WordPress here with us, get it the way you want it - then when you are ready to turn that test subdomain to your real domain, request to support you are ready to put your real domain back on the account - and you should be good to go.  Hope that helps!

okay I will try that Mitch.  I hope that it will work because I know there current site is like TOTALLY out of control, done in frames, etc. and moving everything will be a nightmare.  I'd like to try and avoid it if I can.

Sincerely,

Kathy

Hi Kathy, yes going the sub-domain route (getting the LP sub-domain option) I think would be the best way to go.  Then you could take your time getting things the way you want them on this side, and then when everything is in place, you can switch back and have a smooth roll over from your old hosting to your new hosting with us.  Happy Happy Joy Joy

If there is anything else we can help with, please feel free to let us know.

Mitch,

I did what you had suggested and have been working with support since yesterday.  They just set-up a subdomain for me at myplaceonline.org so I can build my clients site there and then they would redirect it back to our domain when we are ready to move the dns nameservers.

However, when I went to the subdomain they set-up for me at myplaceonline.org my antivirus protection went off and redirected me away from the site giving me the following message:

.myonlineplace.org/ may try to steal your information.

Why were you redirected to this page? When we visited this site, we found it may be designed to trick you into submitting your financial or personal information to online scammers. This is a serious security threat which could lead to identity theft, financial losses or other dissemination of personal information.

Can you tell me what this is all about?  What is myonlineplace.org and why would I be getting this type of message?  I have serious concerns about building anything for my client in this location if security can be compromised.  I've never seen this message go off like this visiting a website and I'm not sure what to do now.

Thanks!

What anti-virus are you using?  This is the first time I had heard about this.

McAfee Security Center, the Site Advisor is what is flagging it.  I'm all up-to-date with everything.  Like I said before when I try to go to the URL of the subdomain that they gave me to build the site on temporarily, McAfee redirects me to a warning page telling me that the website has been flagged as a phishing site.

subdomainLPsetup.myonlineplace.org/ may try to steal your information.

I just emailed support and asked them to please put everything back the way it was.  I truthfully cannot risk doing anything that could jeopordize their site or information.

SiteAdvisor has really gone down hill since it was bought out.  Just did a search for the domain there and it isn't turning up anything.  Could have been they crawled the page when somebody was doing something bad there, like warez.myonlineplace.org, they got deleted and SA never went back to check again.  I wouldn't pay the warning any attention since you would be the one in control of the web site and what is hosted there.
