I created a new subdomain and installed SMF to rtgdemo.mycfoonthego.com/basicforum.
I updated to the latest version of SMF.
I went to install the Adsense manager and got the following  server error.

Quote
Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.

My other websites, forums, etc. are all working perfectly on the same server.

I uninstalled SMF and then reinstalled and I have the same problem.

Any ideas?

Check Settings.php and verify connection settings match settings in Cpanel, Mysql.

Thanks Katrina, that helped me pinpoint the problem a bit more. Plus I learned something new. I'd never looked at my settings file before!

When I checked everything matched up fine. Still got the same error.

I uninstalled/reinstalled again. Checked settings. Updated to newest version.  All fine.
The problem occurs when I go to change my language settings through the SMF admin panel from English Utf-8 to English. Then the forum goes down and I get the server error. I have made this change on my other forums without a hitch. I need to make the change to make my adsense package work.  I am going to try and make the change directly into the settings.php file and see what that does.  If it crashes again I'll uninstall/reinstall and call it a night!

Good thing this is a new install and I don't lose much with the reinstall!

Update:  I changed the language directly in the settings.php file and now everything is working fine. I guess this is something to take up with the SMF folks.
