There was a critical update to WordPress version 2.3.2, released over two weeks ago.

I'd like to continue using the Fantastico system to update my blog, it's convenient, but if I have to wait a year, then I'll take over the file maintenance myself.

Anyone know when Fantastico is likely to update its WordPress installation/update?

Not sure, I haven't heard anything about it myself inside hosting circles.  That is the exchange you make for the ease of use of the Fantastico install.  Your kinda at their mercy when it comes to updates.  You could switch over to doing the updates and installs for WordPress yourself - it is actually pretty easy most of the time, as long as you backup before hand just in case something does not go as planned.
