Unfortunately there is no more guestbook with Fantastico ..

I used Viper and liked it but since it was the captcha free version it got spammed to death.

Can someone recommend a guestbok which
- is free
- has captcha (or similar) included
- is simple but customisable (css)
- can be installed even by a mysql-dummy? Smile Or does not need mysql at all.

Any chance one will be included with Fantastico any time soon?

I've been using Free PHP VX Guestbook. It is free, has captcha (and admin validation of messages, if CAPTCHA can by bypassed), and it has some kind of a template system. VX guestbook is based on PHP/MySQL, but the installation is simple - some config.php editing needed. One of the strenghts of the script appears to be that it does not allow working links, so spammers have a very limited ability to use it for black hat SEO.

It is fast and kinda cute script IMO, worth trying.

Could try www.efreeguestbooks.com

Will have ads on the guestbook if you want your guestbook as FREE. Will be a paid service if you do not want ads on your guestbook. They have a guestbook forum. So you may ask questions to the efreeguestbooks staff.

Enjoy your day!

I really like this one:
