Instead of dealing with an extra step like zipping because it seems to be causing some confusion, just upload regular files.

If you have 50 files, and you intend to organize them in different albums, I suggest you put them into separate folders to reflect that structure. It will make it a lot easier to add the photos to your coppermine albums since the folders reflect the albums and you select the album you want to upload the file to. It's hard to explain. But if you put them all in one folder, you will later have to manually check/uncheck the files you want to put into their respective albums.

If you do not have an FTP client, you can simply use Internet Explorer. Enter this in the address bar:
ftp://yourusername@yourdomain.com

Enter in your cpanel login when requested.

Navigate to public_html/gallery/albums

Drag and drop the folders/files from your computer into the albums folder.

In coppermine, as admin, click batch upload.

The manual should explain it better from this point since it has pictures.

I know you are tiring of me I am so sorry! I tried the ftp method you suggested and I get a "pg can't be displayed message" your directions sound very clear to me but I am not getting to where you want me to go

all I know is is 'PG' =photogallery

Which bit did you miss out ?

Your uploading a zip of images to your images folder.. ( You  created a folder IN your gallery called... fred tom dick harry... as Thu suggested)
You then unzipping them using your control panel....? ( as Fretnmore suggested "This is done the easiest if you upload the .tar or .zip files and then extract the files with File Manager.")
Then in your coppermine admin your telling it where the new set of images are.

YOU ARE SO KIND! I suspect that my problems are more due to user error and lack of knowledge than flaws in coppermine's programing. Others seem to be able to do it.  I was able to put a power pt slide show on our tv system at school which kept the kids off of me (for now.) I may try and add some slide shows with power pt to my web site until I get the coppermine link working. That is providing I can figure out how to do it. In any event I will be, after tomorrow ,hybernating until after New Year in the NC mts, therefore nothing will be done for a while.
