I'd like to learn PHP programming, and was thinking that installing one of the Content Management scripts would be a good way to play around with it.  I have the UI of my site already established, and use a homegrown CGI CM system at the moment, so I'd like something that can plug into my existing site.  Any suggestions on the various content management Fantastico scripts?

Take a look at http://www.punaro.com.  Right now each content block is a separate file pieced together with SSI in the index.shtml file.  I'm wondering how I could accomplish something similar with PHP.

Yep I can.  I currently use php-nuke which I regret.  My users find it very cumbersome and user-unfriendly.   Neutral

We've been using it for almost 3 years now and I just recently had someone install Mambo for me, and so far I REALLY like it.  Both easy to use and flexible, and it seems very slick.
  Thumbs Up

Only to display nuke - and there's no way I'm going to encourage that...  Haha
I'm still working on Mambo.

to be honest, you want a content management script, but for the sort of customisation you need, i think it will probably be better advancing your own site, or switching and advancing a content management script, i prefer mambo.

I installed Mambo using Fantastico, but I never got the confirmation page. I tried to use the installation checker online, but it was out of service. I'm wondering if I installed incorrectly. I installed to the file 'mambo' on my web site. leaving my current index intact.  it created an 'index2' I ended up with no media mangement. no way to edit the pages. I uninstalled. and reinstalled using Fantastico. Is Fantastico the way to go? It does not install the most recent version of Mambo and does not seem to configure internal links for the folder it is installed in. Any input is appreciated.
