Okay this has been bugging me for a long time.  On my site, I have to login twice to get into the phpbb forums.  Someone mentioned once before that it might be a caching problem, but I don't ever have to login twice to LF.  I would think a caching problem would be common to both.  I'm wondering if it could be the template I'm using, but I don't see how that would effect the login process.  I'm using phpbb 2.0.11 so it is up-to-date.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?  Any ideas what the problem might be?  It is really irritating because be forcing me to login twice, I lose the ability to check new posts since my last login, (i.e. even though I'm forced to login twice, it seems my first login is registered in the db)... Grrrrr....

In the admin panel, make sure that the forum's URL matches the one you are using to access the forum. That happened to me when I moved my forum to another domain. I logged in but it still showed me as logged out. So I had to go into the admin panel and update the url to match the new domain.

Hi Ron,

When you have to login a second time, are you being redirected to a different url string?  Look at the original login string and then the one right after you login the first time.  I had a similar issue:

This was a long time ago.  Apparently, it could have also been changed via the phpbb admin panel, which I didn't know at the time.

Thanks.

Thanks Danielle and Thu.  That is where the problem was.  In the admin panel I had rml3.com listed as the domain name.  Changing it to www.rml3.com fixed the problem.... well, sort of, because as I was checking it out, I noticed that links from within my site back to the my home page are linked to rml3.com, not www.rml3.com.  So I need to either change all my links, or always access my site without the www prefix, (second option sure sounds easier huh?).  Anyway, I know what the problem is and how to get around it.  Sure wish ths wasn't a problem for phpbb though.  Seems kind of silly.  Oh well.  Thanks again.

Try adding a trailing slash on the hyperlink(s) leading to the forum. Example:
