hey guys,

my phpBB isn't standalone it is actually a module contained within my CMS... does anyone have a link to doucmentation on where an upgraded version of phpBB as a module exists, and if so could help me via this board or my IM w/ problems I could potentially face installing it...?

also I have done alot of custom work to my board itself as far as ranks, avatar images, user graphics, smilies, etc. and would like to know how this update will effect these modifications?

I tried once unsuccessfully to install the new phpBB, and it obliterated my entire board... that was the full install package, but now I understand I will need the module itself for my CMS...

thanks in advance for support on this and best regards...

Isn't php Nuke up to version 7.6 now or something?

Your best bet is to check the php nuke site and follow the istructions for upgrading the entire thing. Replacing mods is always a pain. Make sure you document them when you add them to make it easier in future.

Perhaps this isn't a very helpful answer, but this problem is the reason I decided to stop using phpnuke and just use "pure" phpBB on my sites instead.

I appreciate the suggestion, but in my situation w/ so many custom CMS modification that just wouldn't be feasable for a simple phpBB board upgrade...

it would mean re-doing my entire CMS (and probably encountering many many errors)

my phpBB board MUST be upgraded as a module, and although I considered downloading the module from their new versions and trying to incorporate it,
I realize that it would probably conflict with the older CMS tables in mysql...

and then I have more errors...
I can't seem to find any resolution to the problem, and with phpBB being integrated with my site, it allows me to "bridge" other features of the site (the chatroom being an example) so that users aren't required to submit name and pass for every single feature...

I'd appreciate if anyone out there knows of a method of upgrading phpBB to the latest release as a php-nuke 6.5 module without changing your CMS

I'll try and ask a nuke 6.5 specialist about it in another forum as well...

regards,
GF

Well if you must only upgrade the modual then it sounds like you should download the "changed files only" pack from phpBB.com, then download a difference locator programme to compare the files, and then manually change the new phpBB code.

The only thing that the update script does (to my knowledge) is optimise the tables and change the version number. You can do that yourself in Cpanel phpMyAdmin.

Or you may be able to patch it with Cygwin, but I don't know if phpNuke makes too many changes to the phpBB files for that to work.

thanks so much...
apparently the phpBB board has been patched using the new files and the upgrade was a success (no errors)... very easily done even without any documentation...

also I'd like to thank the previous poster for attempting to help w/ the issue... it appears to now be resolved and I'm hoping this will negate the invalid session error some of my friends have been having...

best regards,
