I went into Fantastico to activate the phpBB2 board and when I clicked on it I saw it was version 2.0.8a. I do believe version 2.0.10 came out on July 17 this vear and the security has been improved. How do I go about getting the latest version, it seems it can be a bear to upgrade. Tony.

If you want the latest version, you would have to do a manual install. Fantastico is usually a version or two behind. This is probably so any bugs with new versions of scripts can be worked out before Lunarpages makes it widely available, but that is just my guess.

It's done through cPanel though. So whenever they feel the newer version is ready they will release it. You could send an email to cPanel requesting it. Might help to speed up the process.

Thanks cziffra and pOtter, I might do that. I see the phpBB people are using version 10 for their own demo board and have been since it came out, seemingly with no problems. I heard there were security issues with version 08 so why buy into that? I'll send the email I guess.
Tony.

Nope, they only want to hear from their customers, like Lunarpages. We are told to approach our host about problems and not bother them. Guess I'll have to wait until Lunar updates. Good night

I was wary about doing the upgrade but it wasn't that hard. Give it a try.

Okay, try this out for weird...
something was niggling me, I knew I remembered something. I went back to cPanel and clicked on, "Bulletin Board", not on Fantastico. I was taken to a page that said, "The phpBB installer has been moved here". I was then taken to the installer page for, you guessed it, phpBB2 1.0.10!
I looked over my shoulder to see if The Mad Hatter was around...

if you look at the post, there will be a post. I saw that, I was wondering about just a part of the former post. But I see now I can probably edit it. Let's try...
