Hi,
I have a website here on LP and now i want to add a messageboard/forum.

I've read the sticky above "phpBB Security Issues", and tried to follow the link to the step by step faq for SMF but the link doesn't work.

When i went on to install SMF i get the first screen and i got confused allready so i hope someone can help me:
- they ask an admin username and password, can i create new or do that have to be the same as my login for cPanel?
- Admin full name, must that be the same as the one i have an account on here at LP?
- Admin email adress, can that be any one of my choosing?

Do i need to do something first before i can install SMF, i've read a lot at the SMF site and here, and i've read it uses a mysql database. Do i have to create one myself first and how do i do that?

I hope someone can please please help me understand this.

 Thanks in advance   Smiling

p.s. if i posted this in the wrong forum can someone please put it in the wright one than.

Are you downloading SMF and trying to install or installing via cPanel's Fantastico option?

Thank you so much for your reply Mitch  Smile

I'm trying through Fantastico in cPanel, so when i click the install option i have to fill the admin data fields and i don't know if they want the data used for my cPanel login account or i can create new just for SMF purpose?

I've been searching two days and i can't find it anywhere
Do i need to create a database first in mysql or does Fantastico that automatic

I'm completely new to this stuff and i'm scared to do something wrong.

I would suggest going through cPanel > Fantastico and then going to SMF to install.  The admin info that you give there, would and could be anything, as it will be the information you use to login to to your SMF forum after it is installed (doesn't have to match your cPanel login info).  Fantastico should create your databases by itself.  Hope that helps!
