It takes time for the changes to be made in fantastico and then be made available. It is so easy to update to a new version directly in SMF most people do not bother with using fantastico to update.

But not all do. Newbies may not know how to update or don't speak much English so they use Fantastico to update SMF.

I suppose that is true, I guess they must wait for the Fantastico updates to be released then. LP has no control of when the updates are released.

SMF has internal updating system in the admin control panel.

Yes, just click the Admin button in SMF and update from there. It's very easy and I've found it less trouble-prone than trying to update from Fantasico.

Note that when you update from within SMF, Fantastico will continue to show the old version even though you have in fact upgraded.
