Well, I waited a whole 4 hours before hitting the "upgrade automatically" button on my wordpress 2.7.1 sites. The upgrade to 2.8 went without a hitch (though, as always, YMMV).
Now all I have to do is edit the fantversion.php file in each directory so Fantastico doesn't bug me to upgrade.
I haven't seen any changes yet, but I haven't dug around too much.

The famous Wordpress 5 minute install is now less than 15 seconds. Don't even have time to get a cup anymore. Too simple.
