I don't know if others are like me- I have upgraded my Wordpress installation manually a few times- not wanting to wait for the Fantastico upgrade to come out.
But... as I understand it, that makes later upgrades via Fantastico some what of a problem, plus I sometimes put off doing an upgrade because of the work involved.

But- today I finally found the WP automatic upgrade plugin - http://techie-buzz.com/wordpress-plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade-plugin-update.html  I downloaded, unzipped then uploaded to my plugins directory- ran it, and a very painless upgrade to the very latest WP version (yes, I made backups before trying it). It does pretty much everything- puts the site in to maintenance mode, diables plugins, downloads and installs the latest version- upgrades the database, and re-enables the plugins. Doesn't touch theme modified files.

I'm a happy camper Smile.

Happy to hear you had good results with it - I've seen it before, but always been afraid to try it out myself.  Haha

Hmm, think I'll give it a try for the next update! Wink Thanks for the heads up.

Just a note- I used the plugin to update to WP 2.3 (released yesterday) with no problems.
Smile.

After some issues I had with the last big upgrade I'm a little scared to make the jump to upgrade to 2.3 just yet.  Nope  Still got to go in and check all my plugins too, see if any of them are going to have problems, plus doing it on a number or site - guess I've just made my plans for the weekend. Wink

I was amazed- I have another WP installation that isn't "live", so I tried it out on that first (it was also a much older version).
