Hello,

I just upgraded from a business hosting plan to dedicated server and needless to say, the migration has been a complete nightmare.  I'm a total noob when it comes to this kind of stuff, so I'm really just learning as I go.

On my business hosting plan, I used fantastico to install OScommerce and then just turned on PHP through the cpanel.  No problem at all.  However, PLESK is a whole other story.

I downloaded from osCommerce website the latest version, and have uploaded it to my domain.  Everytime I try to go to http://mydomain/catalog/install however I get an error message that my PHP is not turned on.  I have turned on the PHP service through the PLESK control panel but I'm still receiving the same mesage.

I am at my wit's end as I have been struggling with learning everything as I go and I just cannot figure this out.  Please help!

Thank you

Hi Ein,

Are other PHP pages running on the same domain? If yes, did you try to disable safe_mode for PHP under domain setup icon. This mode is enabled by default.

hello and thank you for the reply, it appears that my problem was that my php.ini was a linux ini so I've written one up that is acceptable only my problem now is that I am required to change permissions on various files and directories... I know in a linux/unix system i can change it via FTP client but seeing as I'm on a windows system, I really have no clue on how to do this... I've tried remote desktop to log in but for some reason it says I don't have permission to do this either.  Could you please help? Thanks again.

Hi,

You need to login as root using an SSH client or SFTP client, if you need to change the ownership for your files/folder. Please note that the domain httpdocs folder will be located at /var/www/vhosts/domain.name/httpdocs when you login as root.

Otherwise you can use Plesk file manager just to give everyone write permissions on needed files and folders.
