I have read the posts here and the fog has not lifted  Hypno I need advise!

I am checking into LP as a new host for several of my current clients, 8 for now, all with current websites and features such as cron jobs, mysql, zencart, etc.  I manage all these accounts, and would like to receive some kind of commission for bringing the business to LP, maybe the affiliate program would be best, please advise.  I would also like a no-hassle management system, and they each need their own ftp access, I do all the rest for them including email.  They all have pre-paid domain names and hosting accounts now.

I would really like to speak to someone who would lead me through bringing my clients over, but oh well.....

From what I can gather here - it would be best to purchase basic/business account(s) and set up add-on domains for each of my clients - as needed.  How are setting up each sites services done under one account?  I mean do they each get cgi-bin, their own cron, their own mysql DB (if needed), their own stats.... stuff like that.  I would really like to read some detail on these add-on domains - can someone direct me to all the details?  And....

Is there any special support for transferring existing websites and their third-party install programs over to LP?  I really don't want to start all over with new installs - yikes!

I'm very confused about the reseller program, seems the prices are higher (on the low numbers end) than the Basic, but the resources are much less - so the only way it would be of benefit to a developer such as myself would be if I had over 11 sites or more to set up at one time which would never grow past 1000mb - maybe someone could explain the best use of the reseller program, and is transferring a site from say basic to reseller or reseller to basic easily done?

Any advise and direction is appreciated - thank you

Hey there CurrentWave,

Thanks for your interest in Lunarpages !

Let me see if I can clear some of the fog for you.

First of all to receive a commission for bringing any accounts over to Lunarpages, you would certainly need to be part of the affiliate program. It will cost you nothing extra and any accounts signed thru you would get you a $65 commission after they stay with us past their 30 day trial period.

If you need to speak with someone in person please call our office and choose extension 1 for sales.

The basic and business plans are not meant to be shared by others so if you want to run your clients sites it would be best to choose the reseller plan unless that is not enough space and bandwidth for them, in that case they would need their own basic accounts. Either way they would have all the same features such as cgi-bin, their own cron, their own mysql DB (if needed), their own stats, unlimited emails, etc only reseller has less space and bandwidth.

You can read all about our add on, sub, and parked domains here: https://desk.lunarpages.com/faq.php?do=article&articleid=50
and here:

You would be required to transfer your sites and their content over to our servers yourself. You can do this by downloading it to your local machine and uploading to your account here using an FTP program or filemanager in Cpanel. Existing MySql databases can be dumped/exported to your local machine and imported here using PhpMyAdmin found in Cpanel. You may need to edit the usernames and passwords and the config file but it's really a fairly easy process. We do not handle any third party script installs  but most all you will need can be found and auto installed thru Cpanel via Fantastico.

You can start off with a reseller plan and change to basic plans at any time later or vice versa. It is not a complicated process to do so. The reseller plan is designed for you to resell hosting to your clients (those not needing more space and bandwdith than it provides) and charge what you want and be able to manage all those accounts under your one reseller plan which has a WHM panel. If your clients need more resources than the reseller then getting them signed up with a basic account would be the best option.

Feel free to ask any other questions you may have,
I hope this was helpful,
