Hi I'm researching different reseller plans and I have a few questions.  In your description listing you have up to 3gb, 100gb transfer etc.   I'm getting a bit confused with that since most reseller plans offer something like 50gb for up to 20sites with 100gb transfer total or something like that.  I gather its not the case here since 3gb is rather small to host numerous sites on.    I'm guessing that the 3gb is per account, so if someone orders from me via reseller thats what they would get right and I'd have the abilitity to control how much of the 3gbs they get and price accordingly? If so 3gb and 100gb transfer is the best I've seen so far and the price looks good, only thing is the 3 mysql database limit, install a CMS, a forum and ecommerce script your already out of databases, is there any plans on increasing this limit?   Finally, how does this work exactly, say someone comes to my site and wants hosting, does it go to you guys for credit card processing and setup(like a plan non-branded site with just a processing form to fillout) or do I have to set up my own payment processor through a 3rd party like paypal or someone and then set up my clients sites manually throught a control panel? Thats all!! thanks for any info.

Thank you for getting back to us regarding the Lunarpages reseller program.

First I would like to mention that for the reseller plans that we have gone to unlimited databases for resellers' accounts, we just need to update our site which should be done very shortly.

As far as the plan specs & the pricing, you are correct, our plans are based off of the shuttle plans. So for our reseller program you are purchasing individual 3GB / 100GB bandwidth plans and then marking up those plans and selling them to your customer base.

We did not structure the reseller program like others who ask the resellers to purchase an enormous amount of space & then add a large about of sites to that plan because of the disadvantages to the reseller of making that large purchase right off the bat and because it did not correlate with our existing business practices. In the future we may branch out to offer other packages including ones where you can purchase large packages and add as many clients as you like, in the meantime you will be able to purchase plans like that through our dedicated servers area.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,
Trey Gardner

I'm glad I found this post, as I was almost persuaded to purchase a reseller account, and apparently I completely misunderstood the reseller account structure. I've been doing a bit of research on sites, and as you mentioned, the majority offer a large storage/transfer capacity for a larger price. I was excited upon finding Lunarpages, because it appeared that you offered multiple accounts for a smaller charge (and obviously smaller storage/transfer capacity).

The problem I face is that I need a host that can allow me to resell multiple accounts (each with own control panel, all features, etc) for a much reduced price. I don't need a larger storage/transfer, as at the moment I have very few sites to host, all of which would fit within the minimal 3gb/100gb. Additionally, I can't afford the higher-priced plans.

Would you consider offering multiple accounts (separate control panels, etc) within one main account for a set low price? I'd be fine with the 3gb/100gb limit if I could still have separate add-on domains within the account for no extra cost. I also host several non-profit sites (for free), so it would be a disadvantage to have to start paying extra for each additional account!

It now looks like Lunarpages doesn't currently offer this, but do you foresee doing so in anywhere in the near future? Or, do you know any other good host that does?

Thanks!

oned, That is what lunarpages' does. The reseller account is setup so that there is one main control panel just for you, where you manage everything of the like. Then you sell accounts offered by Lunarpages' where each account has it's own Control Panel that you brand. This FAQ explains how the accounts are priced: http://helpdesk.lunarpages.com/faq.php?do=article&articleid=418

Lupine,

Thanks for your response. I understand now that's how lunarpages works. I'm disappointed, because I was looking to be able to re-sell accounts within the limits of the main account, NOT to resell separate accounts and have to pay additionally for each one. I really like what I see of lunarpages, but since you can't currently offer this, I have to move to another host that does.

Thanks,

matt

You could get a dedicated server then if that's what you're looking for. You can do whatever you want with a dedicated server even sell accounts.

And the dedicated server option costs $99/mo instead of $8/mo. ;-) I found another host that can do this for $15/mo.
