I currently have the following:
  • one shuttle account to host my personal website
  • another 2 personal websites in the works
  • one other website hosted elsewhere that I will need to renew soon
  • several potential freelance projects in the works that might require individual websites

With the 4 existing websites I have now and the potential to have more, my existing shuttle plan or even a voyager plan upgrade will not be enough.

I initially considered getting a dedicated server (which I've had once before), but I would need a managed solution because I don't know enough to administer the server alone. (Are LP dedicated servers managed?) Also, I currently don't have the client base to utilize the full bandwidth and offset the costs of a dedicated server.

Someone suggested looking into a reseller account which seems appropriate at first glance. I was happy to see that LP has one available and would like to consider this first.

Before I do, I have the following questions:
  • Does a reseller account fit my needs?
  • Can I transfer my existing shuttle plan into my reseller account?
  • If I prepay for 1 year of service for 3 accounts right now, how are discounts applied if I add a 4th, 5th, 6th, etc. account at a later date? Is this possible?
  • Does the option exist at a later date to upgrade to a Dedicated server from a reseller account if my needs warrant the upgrade?

Sorry for the simple questions. The reseller concept is still new to me. Thanks for your help.

Hello,

For the quickest reply to reseller questions, it's sometimes best to use our official support at reseller@lunarpages.com

It's no problem on here though, but I can't guarantee a quick reply.

For our dedicated servers, there is a managed option. This means we reboot your server if it becomes unresponsive, we install upgrades when they are needed, if you choose the Cpanel option, we transfer your existing accounts across. If your server is under too high load, we advise of the need to upgrade. You can also resell space on the server if you want to.

You can transfer your existing account into the reseller account.

It is possible to upgrade to dedicated later if you would like to.

Here is the pricing information:

Rates For your 1st - 3rd Purchased Accounts (at regular Lunarpages rate)
1 Year pre paid account $7.95/mo NO SET UP FEE
6 month pre paid account $8.95/mo with a $15.00 set up
3 month pre paid accounts $9.95/mo with a $15.00 set up

Rates For your 4th - 10th Purchased Accounts
1 Year pre paid account $6.00/mo NO SET UP FEE
6 month pre paid account $7.00/mo with a $15.00 set up
3 month pre paid accounts $8.00/mo with a $15.00 set up

Rates for your 11th+ Purchased Accounts
1 Year pre paid account $5.00/mo NO SET UP FEE
6 month pre paid account $6.00/mo with a $15.00 set up
3 month pre paid accounts $7.00/mo with a $15.00 set up

Please note that all accounts you purchase will have a 30-day money back guarantee and you will be able to setup all accounts yourself in WHM or Webhosting Manager and control them there.
