Hi, I've been reading alot lately that the keyword meta tag is now somewhat useless, as most (except 1 major) search engines are no longer using them as criteria for page ranking because of the past abuse by unethical webmasters.

I was wondering if anyone has excluded this tag from their sites & if so, have you noticed any changes in your page rankings?

I've got a site that's over 300 pages & it's always done very well with Google - I add a new page & it's in top Google results within a week. I do use keywords but I've always been really bad & editing & changing them when I add new pages. I've started removing them from this site & really trimming down my meta tags.

Any thots on this?

As long as your not keyword stuffing, you shouldn't have any issues with keeping meta tags in your web pages - because some search engines do still look at that information.

I've always left them in, because all I need is ONE goofball executive who thinks Meta-Tags are the be-all, end all of SEO to point out that my pages dont have any, and it'll be more frustration than it's worth having to explain it to him and every person he had a chance to talk to
