I used the tool from lunar pages to submit my site.  Is that good enough?  Or should I submit to some of the search engines individually?

That should be adequate. Most search engines will find your site pretty quickly without any action on your part. I'd concentrate on doing the site-design things that give you a good SE ranking (keyword-rich text, etc.). Be careful about submitting your site manually -- if a SE (especially Google) gets duplicate submissions, they'll think you're spamming them and you'll get a BIG penalty.

I still have a bit of content to add to some of my pages, but otherwise, I think I'm about ready to take the next step - SE submission. Can someone please hold my hand, I'm scared!
Is my site ready? I don't want all my effort so far to be wasted by making a mistake now.
I've read about META tags, but not fully understood their relative importance. Could someone check mine and tell me if they're OK?
I've also gathered from other threads here that links to my site from other existing sites are important, but since nobody knows about my site, how can I get others to put a link to mine?
Should I just take the plunge and submit it, and hope for the best?

You can go to Google's webmaster tools to get some information on optimization.

Sorry, forgot to give my url: www.infotorremolinos.com
So, should I submit it now, and then use tools such as Google's to monitor how it's doing?

Looked at your site and the meta tags.  Somebody may correct me but from what I have learned you generally want your meta keywords to match the content of the site.  Feel free to view the source of my site http://www.storepromoter.info to see the meta tags.  It's in no way perfect but has been doing quite well in searches.  Also, if you want Google to track your sites performance you might want to pay attention to the http://www.google.com/analytics/ to enter the code into the pages you wish to track the performance of first.  You can really learn a lot from the information that is gathered.

Still not sure whether I should take the plunge and submit my site?
Also, I'd like to sign up for Google ads, but should I wait until Google have listed my site?

Edit: just did a Google search for Torremolinos information, and my site turns up on the 7th page of results! I haven't submitted it yet. Can I hope for a better ranking by submitting it? Most of the hits above mine are not specific to Torremolinos.

If your site has already been indexed, resubmitting it will not help. You should make sure you use Torremolinos and related terms quite often through the site. It will help if you do things like replace <div>General Info</div> with <h2>Torremolinos Information</h2> and links like
<a href="shopping.html">shopping</a> with <a href="shopping.html">Torremolinos shopping</a> ,adding some photos with title and alt attributes that include Torremolinos and use Torremolinos in the file name will also help.

Thanks all for the comments and suggestions. I've changed a few of my headings to see if that helps. Trying to find some sites to get links on, but other than that, not sure what else to do. I'm reasonably pleased with my site, but disappointed that it's not showing higher with Google. I guess all the work I've done so far was the easy bit?Huh  Sad

Well tweaking your web site for better results in the search engines is a game we all have to play. Smile  I would say keep at it, and hopefully your hard work will pay off.  The two best things you can do for yourself is to have good original quality content and have like minded web sites link back to you.  Both of those should help you out as well.

How necessary is it to have a site map? All my pages have direct links from my home page, so should that not be enough? Does having one improve your chances of ranking higher in the Search Engines?
If I do need one, what's the easiest way (for a dumb newbie) to create one. I got lost reading the Google site map tool instructions. Is there an easier way via LP? Confused

I would suggest to keep reading about google's sitemap as it really is a good idea to have sitemap.xml file
for google to read and if you choose to have a sitemap.html file that is up to you but still isn't a bad idea.
I know there is a sitemap tool in the coffeecup software that comes with lunarpages web hosting.  It's actually
pretty easy to use.

Thanks for that. I've now created a sitemap.xml file and uploaded it to my server. (you can see it at www.infotorremolinos.com/sitemap to see if it's OK - I got the basic code from another forum and just continued it in Notepad)
Still haven't got round to looking at any of the CoffeeCup stuff - brain's on overload already  Whoops

Hmm, that's odd - for some reason that site map doesn't validate for me.  I've gone ahead and created a site map for you Torrie that you can download here:

http://cheasym.myownpage.net/sitemap4torrie.txt

Just copy all that is in that .txt file and paste it into your sitemap.xml file and you should be ok.  Thumbs Up

You should also be able to see details about it here:

http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/details-www.infotorremolinos.com.html

Not sure how long XML-Sitemaps.com will keep that info up though.
