Inktomi Corporation is a technology company, and one of its main components is the Inktomi search engine. Inktomi licenses its search engine out to other companies, such as HotBot and NBCi, that want their own search engine without having to build one from scratch.

HotBot doesnt use Inkatomi any more.
It uses DirectHit, LexiQuest and a little bit of GoTo.

I read about this on another web site.  after joe's post i went to hotbot to check it out http://www.inktomi.com/products/search/partners/web_partners.html

hotbot is one of the engines listed on the page.  Maybe I am not understanding it

i dont think inkatomi updated that page

search for something on hotbot they dont give inkatomi any credit

iwon.com swiched too and they are still listed there

Inktomi doesn't need to get "credit" from hotbot...
they receive a "Licensing Fee" for use of their data...that is all the "Credit" they are concerned bout.
