I was thinking of deleting that URL in your post, but decided not to. However, please let me give you all a tip. I don't recommend anyone to use a service such as that one. Many search engines ban website that submit that way. Just go to the URL's in the first post of this thread and submit manually. It will save you a lot of time and hassle later on.

If you go to the Tudogs site at http://www.tudogs.com/newuser.php?page=/promotion.php and enter your email address, you will be sent to a page where there is a program called "Senge." It has a nag screen that can be removed for $10, but free if you can put up with it. I find it isn't a problem. Anyway, the program lists many search engine addresses for manual submission and it works well.

These are the only SE's most people should submit to. When you get emails saying, "Hey let us submit you to 300,000 search engines" - don't do it. It's just a waste of money.
Those search engines listed there have 99% of all searches done on the Internet.

This is a directory focussed on interactive sites. Like, forums are interactive.

Very fast inclusion time, too.  Gleam

I've heard Yahoo wants $300 US to speed up consideration, but hadn't heard they want that yearly from commercial sites. Anyone have more info on that? What is considered commercial, really? I've had problems using some content because we're considered a commercial site because we have ads on our site.

Is Yahoo becoming  Evil or Very Mad about this? I've submitted several sites over the years to Yahoo and have never been listed. We desperately need this site listed if we hope to get the traffic to buy content.

Don't forget http://www.dogpile.com

I think 376 people, 1400 dogs, and 18 gerbils searched there last month!

If you join Zeal to become a zealot at www.zeal.com, you will be able to submit your own site (if it is noncommercial) for free.  I submitted my site this way and was included in Looksmart (Zeal's parent company), MSN, and several other search sites within days.  I have tried for month's to get into Google, but have not had any luck.

Another good option for getting included into search engines is to submit to Inktomi's Search Submit program.  They have three options through PositionTech, and I paid just $39 for one year (this gives you 48 hour refreshes).  Just go to www.inktomi.com and follow the links to check out Search Submit.  I did the paid submission finally because I thought it would help me out rankings wise.  Strangely enough, I am ranged higher from my zeal free site submission than for the paid submission.  Go figure...

Good post Miraenda.... Zeal is actually a very good place to get into if you can. DMOZ is just as good of a place to get in and if you can get in DMOZ's directory then you will be guaranteed to get into Google's listings because Google uses DMOZ as it's only outside source.

I am very surprised to hear that your website is not listed with Google Miraenda. Did you use that link for Google above and when did you submit? Your site seems very fair and should be listed somwhere pretty good at Google.

Thank you, Coon, about the nice comment concerning my website.

As for Google submission. I submitted my site to them twice (once in late May, then again in early July).  I have searched many different keyword terms on Google, and they do not list me at all.  As it is, I am happy after 3 monthes of trying to get search directories to list my site that some of them finally did.  Zeal and MSN rank me very well, so I imagine that the zeal submission really helped me.  On MSN, I am ranked as the first site for best garden, and the first preview site for Iowa gardening (since only six sites at most can be seen when using IE preview and those are picked by MSN's editors, this was really great for them to do).  At this point, I am no longer as concerned with Google and their listing or not listing me.  If they do, good for them and for me.  If they don't, I won't worry about it.  I will still try the DMOZ submission since it sounds like a good idea.  Thanks for suggesting it, and thanks again for the advice.
