I set my images directory as "no idexes" by mistake and then all my images were not able to be displayed when you would go to any page on website.  So I went back and tried to set the setting to "Default system setting" and selected the save button and then hit the "go back" link  and the system keeps on stating it is set to "Fancy Indexing (graphics)".   I can not get it back to "Default System Setting".

If I go to my pages on my site images are now coming up but there is one image that I use for paypal where I pass the location of the image (ie. http://www.mysite.com/logo.jpg) to paypal.  NOw the image is shown as a broken link and I cannot getit to work with any setting I select in the Index Manger.  This used to work now it doesn't.  Any Ideas?

Thanks

Ok now when I go to www.mysite.com instead of www.mysite.com/index.php I see broken links to every image.  I used to be able to just type in www.mysite.com and then everything was ok.  I have tried redirects but that didnt work either.  I am really stuck here.  Hoping someone can help out

Thanks

It's probably an issue with one of the ".htaccess" files created during your efforts...

Use the cPanel "File Manager" and locate any ".htaccess" files in the "public_html" folder or your "images" folder.  Rename them temporarily to determine if it resolves the broken link issue.

If so, you have the option of opening them and editing as necessary or leaving them renamed and starting over with your folder security efforts through the other cPanel options...

Yeah, just empty the .htaccess file.  This will remove any redirects or hotlinking protection you may have...WHOA...do you have hotlinking protection enabled?  If you do:

Go in there, and duplicate all your allowed domains, putting a backslash at the end of them all.  So, if you have
http://www.mysite.com in there, copy it, paste it back in under the original one, and add a slash so it's http://www.mysite.com/

Repeat that with all the allowed domains in there.  It's also a good idea to include the server address in there too, both with and without the backslash.

thanks for the replies.

Here is what I have done.....just before you 2 replied I did narrow it down to the hotlinking thing.  When I disable then I can enter www.mysite.com wiothout the backslash.  WHen I enable hotlinking then I get the problem.  It is also the culprit with the Paypal issue as that is exactly what it is doing is hotlinking to that image.

Now I tried to add more entries in the hotlinking window by coping the 2 existing domains in there and then pasting them and adding the backslash to them.  When I slect activate it says shows all the entries in the next window but then when I go back in there they are gone.

I have also tried to remove the .htaccess file from the public_html folder with no luck.  It is like I do not have correct priveledges to do anything in there.

For now I have hotlink disabled as this will temporarily fixe the backslash prob but would really like to figure this one out.

thanks
