ok, whatever happened my default homepage was changed to some teen porn site. Neither I nor anyone in my family ever went to this site. I can change the actual homepage while I'm online but if I reboot it goes back to this site. I can reset the web settings but the default stays the same. Can anyone help me get this thing off here? Of course when it opens 20 other sites auto open as well. The kids have loved it I am less than amused

No, in IE the default homepage is supposed to be MSN or something like that but it is now this porn site. So, again, if I hit the default, it goes to the porn site, if I reset web options it stays there til I reboot and then goes back to the porn site and I can use blank or manually change the page but once I reboot, goes back to the porn site.

I'm thinking you may have a program at start up that reset the home page, that's what happen to me once. So I ran "msconfig" went into start up, looked for a program that didn't fit in, unchecked it and then later found it in my windows folder and deleted it.
There's also some ActiveX sh*t too, friend got one, I got no clue how to fix that, he just reformat his HD and it disappeared.
It must be one of thoes if you can't reset your home page back to normal.

Open up the registry editor, regedit which is under c:\windows, or for windows2000 c:\winnt. Try changing the value for the homepage there. If that doesn't work...you've probably got some virus which is always changing it back.

hmmmm...i was looking for the variable you'd have to change, but haven't found it yet, i'll keep looking and tell you exactly where you might be able to change it. Though it probably is just a virus, and so it won't do you any good.

I used 3 different virus programs and none found a virus. That was my first thought as well but none were detected. I began to have other problems, got fed up and reinstalled windows. Problem solved. Thanks for all the help!

Gotta do what ya gotta do. At least it's fixed. The reason I had mentioned the website above is that it has already found 3 viruses that Norton, Mcafee and The Cleaner (all up to date) all completely missed. I use it regularly now.
