Here's a page describing in detail a 'layered' defense against Trojan viruses.  It has worked 100% for me, for a while.  Maybe a few, but none ever deployed, including NIMDA, G2 and Badlands (which my primary antivirus didn't even catch).  It shows the proper settings for Internet Explorer and Outlook Express, with some other information.

the best whay to protect yourself from a trojan is simple

follow this steps and you are liekly never to get infected

turn off you pc, and never turn it on again
be sure to disconect it from internet

just to be sure no trojans are in the pc
erase the partition
remove the system batery just to be safe that a
trojan isint still alive in the bios
and afther that put your pc in a box and
put it in the garage

follow this steps and i u got a money back gurantee that its very unlikely that your computer will get infected

Garage is much to dangerous!  Find nearest body of water, at least 500 ft of depth, salt water preferable.  Secure box with plastic straps, tie 100 lb lead weight to box, release in body of water.
